MUSING MONDAY 006: SOME LEFTOVERS...
A roundup of things I've been thinking deeply about from the previous week, but not enough to write a dedicated blog post about it (yet).
It has been a couple of weeks since I have done one of these! This week's edition is called "Some Leftovers," as within this are some musings that were leftover from the last few weeks of 2022.
LOOSE LEAF BLACK TEA
In the middle of December, I travelled to London for a small holiday! One of the places I visited was a Fortnum & Mason at the Royal Exchange. Fortnum & Mason is a specialty store selling food, beverage, and housewares. I got a tin of their loose leaf Black Tea with Vanilla, and let me tell you: the British take their tea seriously! With one teaspoon, the tea is bursting with flavor. Most teas I get in America aren't as potent, so I highly recommend visiting a Fortnum & Mason boutique if you find yourself in the UK.
READING!
In an attempt to curb my social media addiction, I have been reading. I finished the English translation of A Few Personal Messages by Pierre Clementi and am working through A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. Regarding ALL, I have it on my phone so that instead of opening up a social media application, I am opening the Books app and reading. It does feel so much better reading than doomscrolling, and if you are coming across the same ick for social media, I recommend going down this route.
FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS AND TABLESCAPES
I have grown a liking to Instagram accounts that feature unique floral arrangements and tablescapes. I really want to host parties in my apartment in the future, so I have been taking notes and inspiration from the accounts below:
GOING OUT!!
Throughout my college years, I have never gone out. Not to a bar, not to a club, nilch, nada. To be fair, I am a domestic girly and enjoy my times inside. However, in my attempt to redeem the last months of my college experience, I have been GOING OUT! I went bar hopping for the first time (with people my age)! I danced at a club! Is this what college is about???
All jokes aside, I enjoy going out for the sake of socializing. I am not too fond of drinking but understand its role in social outings. With that being said-- yes, I danced at the club sober.
POETRY
I am a FAKE poet, I will admit. I do not care for the rules, structure, what have you. I like to focus on how the words / phrases roll off your tongue. With that being said, here is a poem I wrote about how I have been feeling a little outside my head these past few days:
Absent minded
Too ill to confide in
My head
Is hollow
My feelings
Are none
Confusion and discomfort
Where have I gone?
SNAPSHOTS
None for this week, but also, I am too lazy to curate some... Let's try again next week ;)
