YOU BECOME MORE DELIGHTFUL WITH EVERY INTRUSIVE THOUGHT YOU LET WIN
My digital footprint is so big, I have breadcrumbs on virtually every social media. I've been on the internet since probably the age of 8. At this point, privacy means little to me. I still keep most of my life off social media, but I rarely keep my thoughts off of social media.
Like books and other sharing mediums, I view social media as an outlet to contribute my ideas, thoughts, and inspirations. That is the very ethos of this virtual blog-- to share my never ending musings. At first, I was embarrassed by how much I shared on social media. Who is really resonating with what I post? Who actually finds this interesting? As I reflected on it more and more, I have come to define my audience: my audience is anyone who finds inspiration and excitement from what I find. My colleagues say that I have an immense amount of enthusiasm and an encyclopedic brain; that when I am curious about a topic, I search for more information deep and wide, not just on the surface. I appreciate this about myself, and as such, I continue on with my musings, my oversharing, and I let my intrusive thoughts win.
My mentor would absolutely tell me otherwise-- don't share everything on social media!, she might argue. But what is the fun in keeping your thoughts to yourself? Especially thoughts that you think could intrigue somebody's psyche? That is why I continue to observe, I continue to overshare, and I continue to tell these stories. Very jagged stories that do not make a complete puzzle, but perhaps a puzzle that looks like it would go together. In a way, the stories are related to one another-- they are all told by me!
You become more delightful with every intrusive thought you let win. I believe you are your truest self when you are the "cringiest version of yourself," a version of yourself that in the future you may find embarrassing, yet it is your most authentic form.
Don't forget to embrace the natural delight that you are.
